Project Good For Age Week 22 of 30 – Race Eve!!

Goal : Automatic Entry Into the London Marathon

How? : Run a 3:15 Mara @ Manchester Mara in April (Current PB 4:45)

Next Stop : Blackpool half mara on 18th Feb – Target 1:37 (Current PB 1:58)

Go onto any running related ‘forum’ online with the question ‘treadmill running versus ‘real’ running’ and I guarantee you will immediately be jumped on by thousands of ‘experts’ who will tell you that the treadmill is nothing like ‘real’ running as it’s ‘miles easier’ than doing it in ‘real’ life.

They will tell you that, if you are on the ‘PB’ hunt, then the treadmill is a complete waste of your time.

Thousands of them.

But can someone please show me the person who has trained exclusively on a treadmill  then entered a road race and attempted to smash their PB?

Didn’t think so.

That’s where I come in.

Also, whilst you are online, ask the ‘experts’ how long it will take to reduce your half mara time from a current PB of 2 hours down to 1:37 and I guarantee you will get the reponse…… ‘at least a year’

Yet I am looking to do exactly that in only 10 weeks….

You see, my current PB for the half mara is 2 hours.

And, for the last 10 weeks, I have been training exclusively on a treadmill.

Tomorrow, I will attempt to smash that time down to 1:37 at the Blackpool half marathon.

What will happen?

Who knows?

One thing I can tell you….

Blackpool is ready….

FCR Events are ready…

My kit is ready…

Deca Dave is ready (he’s amazingly agreed to pace me)….

I am ready……

Exciting right?
