Rookie goes for 5 in a row @ IMUK Week 7 of 26
So Ironman released a video on youtube this week basically saying that they are doing absolutely everything they can to get back to hosting races as quickly as possible…..
What was very interesting to me was not the actual video itself, but the comments underneath, of which there was nearly a thousand, mostly from people ‘having a pop’ at Ironman and demanding their money back…..
What saddened me the most was the ‘tone’ of many of these comments…..
You see the biggest thing the Ironmen taught me when I first met them, was that it’s all about respect…..
Respect for the pro’s, respect for the elite, respect for the supporters, respect for the volunteers, respect for where you are and most of all…….
Respect for Ironman…..
In the internet age, that respect sadly doesn’t seem to exist anymore…..
You only need to look on social media to see that…..
Let me tell you something….
‘Gobbing off’ to Ironman is the equivalent of ‘Gobbing off’ to the vicar after Sunday service at your local church….
That isn’t what we do…..
Here is how training went this week….
Tues…26 mile bike to and from work
Weds….26 mile bike to and from work
Thurs….26 mile bike to and from work
Fri….26 mile bike to and from work
Sun….26 mile bike trialing a new route
