IMUK 2020

Rookie Goes for 4 in a row @ IMUK Week 20 of 28

Areet?….

So the big news this week is that open water swimming returns to the north west, with both 3 sisters & pennington flash re-opening their doors for business….

I’m buzzin about that you know…

It was the final piece of the jigsaw…..

No turning back now then, the DIY IMUK attempt is well and truly on…

Got to be honest, i’m all excited…

Training is going well…..

I continue to have a lot of fun with 10 mile TT’s and 10k runs on alternate days, then a lap of the IMUK race circuit of a weekend….

That’s if the weather doesn’t ‘stick its beak in’ mind….

Gale force winds put a stop to any planned bike training towards the end of the week which pissed me off – but i’m not falling for that one again….Bit older in the tooth now and all that….

Had to re-schedule me loop till Monday…

On that note, next time its blowin a gale – try going for a 10k out & back run instead….

I guarantee on one of the sections you will feel like ‘linford’..

Regarding the swim, Hoping to go for my first dip of the year in open water as part of one of the structured sessions shortly…

Equally nervous and excited about this at the same time….

3 times yer Ironman or not, the flash has long held a mystical power over me….

Early feedback from a few of the lads that have already been is that despite the extended lay off, they took back to it like a duck to water….

Hopefully it will be a case of ‘same here’…..

I’m waiting until it’s all still and tranquil for me first attempt mind, if it’s choppy i’m not playin and I suggest you do likewise you crazy fool…..

I’ll let you know how it goes next week….

Next update 31 May
