New IMUK Bike Loop attempt #4
Areet??
Apologies for the lack of posts these last few weeks….
Basically I slipped in the showers at David Lloyd 3 weeks ago and cracked me head which meant I had to take a week off….
Pissed off because I couldn’t train, I ended up going the pub after work for ‘a couple of games of pool’ and a quick pint with the lads….
This quickly turned into ten games of pool and a skinful of pints….
All of a sudden three weeks have passed and i’m like wtf?
Think Mcdonalds breakfasts pretty much every day, fags, poor diet, Countless Guiness after work….
Ending up in ‘bamboogie’ at 5am of a Saturday in Bolton Town Centre throwing a few ‘shapes’….
Not good…
Not good at all
Thankfully I saw the light this last week and re-started the health kick together with the old workout routine….
Here is what happened when I got back on the loop for attempt #4 after 3 weeks ‘awol’
3:55 and it nearly killed me…
Its not the loop (although the new loop is as tough as nails)
It’s me…
Case in point….
A couple of lads came stomping past me early doors in Breightmet already on their second lap…..
“How did you get on lap 1” I asked….
2:50…..
Which just shows you sub 3 is perfectly possible……
However I ‘smoked’ them on Lowercroft dip and I never saw them again at any point during the rest of my 3:55 loop so make of that what you will….
I hit it way too hard early doors to be fair playing ‘cat and mouse’ with some big lad who I ‘had’ on the flat but he kept catching me and kicking my arse on the hills…
In summary….
The first stonking hill in Breightmet pisses me off.
Holcombe Hill relieves me of all my power only an hour in
Grane Road is an absolute grind
Roman Road and i’m half dead
During the bit from Egerton over to Blackburn Road i’m seriously losing the will to live…
Sheephouse in reverse sent me under…..
That’s what 3 weeks on the piss does for you.
A huge 25 minutes down on my previous efforts in perfect weather and I can barely walk after.
3:55 is dogshit….
Serious imrpovements are required if I am to have any chance at all of making the grade….
I await the cut-off points on this new bike circuit with great interest….
